What’s Your Dining Style?
Are You a Selectivor or Omnivore?
With millions of Americans living with food allergies and 2 out of 3 people with at least one dietary restriction planning or attending a wedding, shower, birthday, party, luncheon, or any number of other celebrations and events in which food is a part of can be challenging for many.
To make your and your guests experiences more enjoyable, Selectivor has built and recently launched a free social food app that allows you to create your own custom food profile. You can easily share it with others so they’re aware of your food restrictions. With this app, you can create groups and events and instantly analyzes everyone’s food needs. What I really appreciated was that the information that I entered at www.selectivor.com was available on my device and vice versa. One account works everywhere!

Food is often a big part of getting together and with this app, it is easier to eat together. Backed by a high-caliber, physician-led team this app’s database includes more than 600 everyday foods and an impressively large number of common diet templates that include all the major food allergens.
Selectivor is for selective eaters – people on any type of diet or people with food allergy, intolerances, sensitivities, restrictions or strong preferences. It works for a party on ONE or ONE HUNDRED. The more people the more it helps you create the perfect menu to suit everyone’s needs.
Getting started was simple and I signed up and got started from my laptop. Creating my custom eating profile was fun and interesting. Even, educational. Once I added my family and their preferences to my dashboard, creating an event was next on my to-do list. This was also very simple and I was able to invite the guests even if they had not signed up on Selectivor by their email addresses. Selectivor sent them an invite so they could add their needs to my party.
Once I had everyone’s profile added to the party, I was able to make a few changes to my menu and offer food that met everyone’s needs. As I was playing around with this app Marcus mentioned that it could also be used to assist with your weekly menu planning, too. What a great idea to make meal planning a breeze!
We are all enjoying planning with this Selectivor app. It is so convenient it is to use!
Now, Thanksgiving with everyone’s profiles added will be a bit different from years past. After looking at the detailed food list, the first change that we will be making will be to make one whole turkey and two turkey breasts. In years past, we made two whole turkeys to feed everyone. Also, we will be offering several food alternatives. Such as mashed cauliflower in addition to the traditional mashed potatoes and a cheesy “pasta” made from zucchini & lentils will be sitting beside the pan of macaroni and cheese. While there will still be food offered that everyone will not be able to eat knowing their needs we are better able to make sure that there is plenty of what they can eat available.

With an allergy to seafood and a strong dislike of onions, I am definitely a Selectivor.
