Matcha Japanese Green Tea
What is Matcha? It is green tea from the Camellia sinensis, but in a very fine powder version of the healthy drink. Unlike other teas derived from Camellia sinensis, matcha has not been fermented. Like other varieties of green tea, it can be harvested from anywhere in the world. But it is more than simply ground up green tea leaves. It is derived from tea leaves grown in the shade so that the leaves achieve a dark green color, which gives matcha its magnificent amino acids.

My Thoughts:
When my tea arrived I made a cup of tea right away to try it. This finely-powdered Japanese drinking quality green tea had a sweet smooth, not bitter taste. Wanting to know how it would do in a warm beverage. I added some to my morning coffee. I drink my coffee black with an ice cube so I was able to notice a small change in the taste of my coffee but had no trouble getting it to dissolve. The health benefits of adding it far outweigh the barely noticeable difference in taste.
I am looking forward to trying this in some ice cream. Check out this Easy Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream (no ice cream machine) recipe I found on Kitchen Stories!
